Welcome to the Building Blog!
Northwood Building Blog
If you are a part of Northwood or have been walking with us in some capacity, you know that we have been working toward building a church building. While this blog may highlight some of what God is doing through the process of putting a structure on the land he provided, it really is about everything God is building in and through Northwood Church. You see, since we are the church, we are the structure that God is working in and through for building His kingdom. It’s not because we’ve got it all together; it’s because God has chosen to build His kingdom here on earth through a collection (a body) of people committed to him; his plans and purposes. It’s the best kind of building because it lasts forever.
Each blog post will answer the question: What has God been building at Northwood?
The focus for blog post #1: God has been building endurance. What is needed for building endurance? It seems struggle over the course of time is necessary to build endurance. Would we sign up for it? Probably not… but, do we benefit? Absolutely! Here’s what the book of Romans in the Bible has to say:
Romans 5:1-11
1Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peacea with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. 2Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.
3We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. 5And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
6When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. 7Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. 8But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. 9And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. 10For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. 11So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.
How has God been building endurance in you?
